Gravity filtration is one of the simplest forms of filtration. In this method, mixtures are poured onto filter paper. Gravity filtration leaves behind solids that settle on the surface of the filter paper and then fall away as liquid drains through. These solids are then deposited on another filter medium such as vacuum or pressure filtration, or membrane filtration. All these methods aim to separate using different laboratory filtration mechanisms.
